Reprocessing step-by-step
Brief instructions for manual reprocessing of PENTAX endoscopes
Please also observe the reprocessing instructions since the various endoscope models differ with regard to their brushability.

3 |
Immediately after the examination and with the scope still
connected to the processor, wipe the outside of the insertion tube with a soft
cloth or a gauze which has been soaked in detergent solution.
|
Flush suction channel alternately with detergent solution and
air.
Set the lever on the water bottle to "drain" and insufflate air
alternately into air and water channel.
|
Disconnect the endoscope from processor/light source and suction
pump.
Attach the soaking cap on PVE connector. For portable endoscopes
as well as fibre endoscopes, please use appropriate soaking cap according to
owner’s manual.
|
| 4 |
5 |
6 |
Remove all valves, the distal end cap (if present) and all other
detachable components and clean separately in detergent solution.
|
Perform leakage test I (dry test).
During dry test, move deflection wheels slightly and rotate
ocular if appropriate.
If pressure drops, stop leakage test and wipe and dry the
outside of the endoscope. Place scope in protective bag provided. Identify
carrying case accordingly and send it to PENTAX Service.
|
For leakage test II (wet test), immerse endoscope completely in
detergent solution. Move deflection wheels slightly and rotate ocular if
appropriate.
If tiny bubbles arise, stop leakage test II. Proceed according
to step 5.
After finishing this test, remove leakage tester connector
always above fluid surface.
|
| 7 |
8 |
9 |
Clean all freely accessible channels, including biopsy channel
inlet, always below fluid surface with corresponding brushes.
|
Commence brush cleaning at the PVE connector.
|
Brush valve cylinder, valves, distal end cap (if present) and all
other detachable components.
|
| 10 |
11 |
12 |
Finally brush all channels from the control body through to the
distal end.
Before filling all channels with detergent solution, attach
cleaning adapter (if present).
Please note application time and concentration according to
manufacturer’s instructions.
|
Remove endoscope and all detachable components from the
detergent solution.
Rinse all channels and external surfaces thoroughly with clean
water.
|
Immerse valves, distal end cap (if present) and all other
detachable components in disinfectant solution.
Immerse endoscope completely in disinfectant
solution.
|
| 13 |
14 |
15 |
Attach appropriate cleaning adapter.
Rinse and fill all channels consecutively with disinfectant
solution.
Please note application time and
concentration according to manufacturer’s instructions.
|
Remove endoscope and all detachable components from the
disinfectant solution.
Thoroughly rinse all internal
channels, external surfaces and components using sterile
water.
Dry channels.
Remove soaking cap and any cleaning adapters (if
applicable).
Inspect valve o-rings and replace if
necessary. Moisten with silicone oil sparingly.
|
Store endoscope by hanging in a dust-free, well ventilated cabinet.
Store valves, distal end cap (if present) and other
detachable components separately from endoscope.
|
| 16 |
|
Before next examination, attach valves, distal end cap (if present)
and other components.
Connect endoscope to
processor/light source.
Perform functionality test.
